West End completes $3.4M Capital Campaign
Over the last year, West End reacted to the new needs in the community by helping almost 1,000 Delawareans receive low-interest loans and job search assistance through Loans Plus and the Employment and Training program. In turn, local businesses, corporations, foundations and community members responded to West End’s Capital Campaign appeal and helped West End reach its historic fundraising goal of $3.4 million dollars. “Our fundraising success is especially exciting in light of the current economic climate,” said Monica Alvarez, Director of Development at West End, “the support we’ve received so far really speaks to the respect and trust the community has for our organization.” Of the $3.4 million raised, $1 million will be allocated for an 11 unit home for former foster care youth participating in the Life Lines Program, $1 million will go toward continuing Cornerstone West’s successful community revitalization and affordable housing efforts, and the remaining $1.4 million will be used for improvement projects, such as installing upgraded technology and energy efficient equipment, at West End.
